Good thing you didn't get a new Toyota. They are the biggest pieces of junk. Toyota is flushing their reputation down the drain. Mexico built crap.

You hit the point that truck buyers have gotten fleeced on: "it's not fast, nothing crazy, but it gets the job done". People have been buying "crazy" and the truck market has finally reached a critical point of way overpriced trucks, high debt economy, high interest rates, and iffy reliability.

I think your comments make a lot of sense. The Frontier looks way cooler too! Nissan is increasing in quality and reliability. Toyota is going the other way! (Two different truck UA-camrs broke their Taco testers the first week they had them...not a good look for Toyota!)

i had a 88 hardbody and put 400k on it. been in a taco ever since. i think i am going back to nissan again. mainly due to cost and 4 cylinder.

I own a 2018 Tacoma love the truck .But have owned Nissan they have good reliable vehicle have used it very much.

You probably don’t keep trucks for that long. I do. Got 17 years out of my last truck. When I needed another new one in 2022, the choice was easy. Since the Frontier was only direct injection, screw that crap. Got the 2tr-fe cast iron powered port injected legend basic Taco that will easily last me another 17 years.

His first thing is a huge reason why I personally don't like a Tacoma or a 4Runner as much. Everyone has one or you see them everywhere. I'd prefer a vehicle that not everyone has. They are two great vehicles, but I've looked at Nissan Frontiers for a while and will probably buy one eventually cause they are still very nice trucks that you don't see much. Also 46.5k for that truck is much better than the new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro which last I checked is 64,000 base mrp.

The thing is they don’t make 6 inch lift kits for frontiers or 3 inch kits except the rough country 6inch lift kit which are trash

10:28 modern turbos suck compared to turbo vehicles of the past. Old vehicles that were turbo’d took a robust engine and added turbo on the top end of the rev range. Modern turbo cars take a tiny, underpowered engine and add turbo torque to the bottom end of the rev range to attempt to get the engine back up to even playing field to normal size NA engines.

I had an 06 frontier. Only ever did oil and brakes, replaced an AC compressor, and replaced a radiator which sprung a leak. Bought a 2017 Nissan Frontier and it's been good so far. Just oil and brakes and now wheel bearings after 70,000 miles but that's my fault. Toyota doesn't beat Nissan anymore.

Got a 2024 Tacoma but do wish I would have looked at this. Went with the warranty that covered up to 100k miles 7 years only didn't cover brakes, tires, battery, and windshield wipers. I figure I will be one of those guys that helps Toyota iron out their shit for a few years.

How do you fight mold issues? I live in MI and store our stuff in our basement over the winter. I opened our bins this spring to find some mold growing on items.

Frontier FTW.....new Tacos plagued by engine, transmission, chassis issues....check the forums, new Taco and Tundra are FAILS.....recalls and stop sales....so much for Toyota reliability

I just saw a few videos about the Tacoma's experiencing transmission failures all over the country. Trucks need transmission replacment, but Toyota doesn't have any. It could be six months or more for a new transmission. Not the same Toyota quality. 👎 My Brother is driving his Nissan Frontier for fourteen trouble free years.

I had some issue with Nissan. Dealing with the dealer made it worse. take a car in 4 times for the same problem. On the 4th time they fixed the problem but than it was out of the warranty.

Agree that the Nissan is probably the way to go. I really do like the new Ranger and GM trucks, but I don't know that I trust them. I do like how the Nissan is more analog. It's funny, I've always loved the old hardbodies, I remember when I was a little kid my uncle bought a brand new (89?) Toyota pickup, and I was disappointed that he didn't get a Nissan, lol.

I'll be leaving my Taoma's also, Frontier makes a access cab,NA V6, and cost, ect.

No Turbo! That's the way to go. Turbo is like always being on a energy drink. Shorter life due to stress.

Enjoy your naturally aspirated V6s on this Frontier while you can because it will probably be gone in 2-3 years, replaced by mini 4 bangers with turbos like Ford and Toyota are doing now. And it’s not a manufacturer’s decision. It’s decided for them by the overlords at the EPA with their ever increasing CAFE standards demanding higher gas mileage and lower carbon emissions. Say goodbye to new affordable trucks and cars in general.
